“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes because for those who love with soul there is no such thing as severance.”
Mahi it’s hard to digest that you left the cricket, we will not going to hear that cheer up from crowd Mahiii…..Mahiii… again. Ah! Please come back to India is missing you.
Mahi, think of yourself 14 years back those early days in 2004. Those days are remains in my heart forever, the belligerence of youth was evident in your face, there was a twinkle in your eye, and the typical swagger and your brisk walk gave me goosebumps. You were only 23 at that time and just pummeling the bowlers, treating them with sheer disdain and illuminating the sky with your towering sixes.
That was the Dhoni I fell in love with, the Dhoni who charmed all of us, that one image of Dhoni is enshrined in our hearts. Mahi, the man who calm and cool like deep sea water even in a tough situation, and carefree person.
Over the years, you evolved, as all great sportsmen do and Captaining the side meant a lot more responsibilities. You became a tormentor as well as a mature finisher.
You take the match deep into the last over and put us a nail-biting situation and finish up in your style. I have lost considerable amounts of my nails because of you, while you took us to safety with Zen-like calmness.
Those eight years of your captainship will be etched in our minds, as you took us to heights never achieved before. You showed us your sharp cricketing acumen.
When I woke up one morning in January 2017 and found out that you had given up captaincy that was shocking, your decision was perfect that handing over the mantle to Kohli would allow him to settle into the job while you were still around.
But, last year I mate a different Dhoni, who has imposed limitations upon himself, who now bows down to the rules rather than bend them and the twinkle in your eye is losing its spark too, and you look battle-worn.
Every beginning has the end, but still, we are waiting to watch you on India jersey for your farewell match. In the end, it’s all your personal life you left India squad on 15 August just by a single Instagram post. I feel it’s like the end of an era.
Thank you MSD(Mahi) for your beautiful contribution to INDIAN CRICKET and entertain us. I hope your post cricket life spent well. Good luck with your future.
Your Diehard Fan
