Arun Jaitley (28 December 1952 – 24 August 2019) was the man of a great visionary leader, economic reformist, distinguished parliamentarian, and formidable lawyer. Jaitley was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and served as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019.
Arun Jaitley was born in Delhi, and His father, Maharaj Kishen Jaitley, was a lawyer and mother Ratan Prabha Jaitley, a housewife. In 1973 he graduated with an honors degree in commerce, BCom from Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi, and passed his LLB degree in 1977.
In 1977 Jaitley was appointed as the president of the Delhi ABVP and All India Secretary of the ABVP. After joining BJP in a short time, he was made the president of the youth wing of the BJP and the secretary of the Delhi Unit in 1980.
Before 2014 Jaitley was the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha and was the Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India.
He was the man who introduce Goods and Services Tax, which brought the country under one GST regime, demonetization, the merger of Railway Budget with the general budget, and add the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.
Posthumously in 2020, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in the field of Public Affairs, which is India’s second-highest civilian award.
Arun Jaitley married Sangeeta, she was the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra, and they have two children Rohan and Sonali.
Jaitley suffers his whole life in a severe health-related issue. He underwent coronary artery bypass surgery, although he has high blood pressure. He also had diabetes for nearly two decades confirms the doctor.
Jaitley decided not to join the second Modi Cabinet in 2019, due to his worst health issues.
After he complained of breathlessness, he was admitted to Delhi (AIIMS) and passed away on 24 August 12:07 PM at 66. To condole Jaitley’s death Indian Cricket team wore black armbands for a day during the test match with the West Indies.

PM Modi also paid his tribute to the legend and said last year that we lost Shri Arun Jaitley Ji and missed him so much. Also noted that Arun Ji diligently served India and his wit, intellect, legal acumen, and warm personality were legendary.
It’s hard to believe that already one year has been passed of his death. India is missing you and never forgets your contribution to India.
