Activist Anil Biswal lodged a complaint in the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar against author Devdutt Pattnaik for attempting to instigate a divide in the Hindu society based on caste by spreading blatant lies, fake news about the Puri Jagannath Temple in Odisha.
Activist Anil Biswal alleged that Devdutt Pattnaik has hurt the religious sentiments of Jagannath devotees with some derogatory tweets and has put out some false facts about Lord Jagannath of Puri. Biswal accuses that Pattnaik has spread blatant lied against the traditions of Puri Jagannath Temple with the ill intention of creating a divide between Hindus based on caste.

Biswal stated that the remarks made by Patnaik are pejorative and designed intentionally to defame Lord Jagannath Temple along with the Hindu traditions. Even he said that Patnaik has also a history of the same incident when earlier he also repeatedly insulted Hindu Gods and Hindu Dharma.
Author Devdutt Pattanaik earlier in a statement stated that Dalits are not allowed to enter the Puri Jagannath Temple. To which Biswal counter replied that there is no restriction on entry of any Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs to Shri Jaganath Temple.

He further said that every day thousands of devotees of all sections and castes of Hindus which also includes SC, ST, and OBC visit the temple in Puri. There is no such caste-based discrimination at the Temple. Jagannath culture always aims for the upliftment of the poor fallen and the downtrodden.
The activist has requested the Odisha Police to take appropriate action against the author under IPC Section 295A, 500, 505, & IT Act Section 67 for hurting the religious sentiments of devotees.
