Samir Ranjan Dash, School & Mass Education Minister informed that consent of parents/guardians is mandatory for students to attend physical classroom teaching in schools as well as stay in hostels.
He said “One can give consent over the telephone, through Whatsapp. Since the child is going to attend school, headmaster or teacher of the concerned school will ensure to obtain the consent of the child’s parents no matter through whichever means.”
He further added “We have requested the Health Department to vaccinate teachers. Since schools are going to reopen and the health of students is important for all of us, the District Collectors will take appropriate action wherever necessary. Since most of the teachers have taken their first doses, their second doses will have to be prioritized if they have completed the relevant gap between the two doses of the vaccine.”
