What inspired you to explore the fusion of yoga and the samurai way in your book “Stressful Life vs Abundant Life: Yoga in a Samurai Way”?

Ans:In “Stressful Life vs Abundant Life: Yoga in a Samurai Way,” I found inspiration in the parallel virtues shared between the practices of yoga and the noble ethos of the Samurai. Both traditions emphasize discipline, inner strength, and mindfulness in navigating life’s challenges. By weaving these two philosophies together, I sought to create a holistic approach to well-being that resonates across cultures and generations.

The concept of the “Samurai Themed Journal” emerged from a desire to provide readers with a tangible tool for introspection and growth. Drawing from the rich tapestry of Samurai wisdom and blending it with the introspective practices of yoga, the journal serves as a daily companion, offering guidance and inspiration on the path to personal transformation.

The overwhelming success of “Stressful Life vs Abundant Life” underscores the universal appeal of its message. To be recognized as Amazon’s #1 bestseller and to receive numerous accolades, including the prestigious Inspiring India Authors Award 2023, the Ukiyoto Literary Award 2024, secured the first rank in the Self-Help category by Lift magazine and the Golden Book Award 2024, is truly humbling. With translations available in Japanese, Korean, Thai, Malay, and Italian for both of my books, they resonate deeply across diverse cultures. It reaffirms the importance of bridging ancient wisdom with contemporary lifestyles in our quest for fulfillment and inner peace.

  1. How do you believe ancient Zen stories can guide individuals in cultivating positivity and inner peace in their lives, especially in the contemporary context?

Ans:Ancient Zen stories hold a timeless wisdom that can guide individuals in cultivating positivity and inner peace, even in the contemporary context. In “200 Zen Stories: Cultivating Positivity and Inner Peace,” I curated a collection of these tales to offer readers a source of inspiration and guidance in navigating life’s challenges. These stories, rooted in Zen philosophy, speak to universal truths that resonate across cultures and generations.

In today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, the lessons from Zen stories serve as a reminder to slow down, embrace simplicity, and find contentment in the present moment. Whether it’s a story about the nature of impermanence, the power of compassion, or the importance of letting go of attachments, each tale offers profound insights into the human experience.

What distinguishes my approach is the accessibility of these teachings. With translations available in multiple languages, including Japanese, Korean, Thai, Malay, and Italian, my books reach a diverse audience, fostering a global community united by a quest for inner peace and fulfillment. 1. Can you share a personal anecdote or experience that profoundly influenced your understanding of the principles you advocate in your books?

Ans: Amidst the turbulence of the 2020 lockdown, I found myself at a crossroads, grappling with the demands of a stressful software job while yearning for a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment. It was during this transformative period that I made a life-altering decision: to bid farewell to the confines of corporate life and embark on a journey of self-discovery through yoga and literature.

As I delved deeper into the practice of yoga and immersed myself in the wisdom of ancient texts, I experienced a profound shift in my understanding of life’s priorities. Through the discipline of yoga, I discovered a path to inner peace and holistic well-being that transcended the transient stresses of modern living. Each asana, each breath became a sacred ritual, leading me closer to a state of harmony and equilibrium.

It was through this personal journey of introspection and self-discovery that the principles advocated in my books began to take shape. Drawing from my own experiences of navigating the dichotomy between a stressful existence and a life of abundance, I sought to distill the essence of ancient wisdom into accessible, practical guidance for modern readers.

“Encourage children to absorb the serenity of Zen, finding peace in nature and in their inner selves. Through yoga, let them discover the strength and flexibility of their own bodies and minds. Nurture the samurai within: teach children the ways of Bushido codes such as Justice, Courage, Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Honor, Loyalty, and Self-control, leading their path. This triad of philosophies will guide them to lead lives filled with purpose, balance, and wisdom, ready to make a positive impact in the world.”

Through my books, I aim to share the transformative power of yoga and ancient wisdom with others, inspiring them to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and inner peace. It is my sincerest hope that by sharing my personal anecdotes and insights, I can empower others to embrace a life of abundance and fulfillment.

  1. In a world inundated with distractions and stressors, what practical advice would you offer to individuals seeking to prioritise their mental well-being and find balance?

Ans:In a world where distractions and stressors seem to be ever-present, prioritizing mental well-being and finding balance is essential for living a fulfilling life. Drawing from my own journey and the wisdom encapsulated in my books, I offer the following practical advice:

Cultivate Mindfulness: Begin each day with a few moments of quiet reflection. Whether through meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply taking a mindful walk in nature, cultivating mindfulness helps to center your thoughts and establish a sense of inner calm amidst the chaos of daily life.

Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to commitments or activities that drain your energy and detract from your well-being. Setting boundaries allows you to prioritize your own needs and allocate time and energy to activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Embrace Self-Care: Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine. This could include indulging in activities that nourish your body, mind, and soul, such as practicing yoga, reading a book, or spending quality time with loved ones. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential for maintaining balance and resilience.

Practice Gratitude: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude by reflecting on the things you’re thankful for each day. Whether it’s the warmth of the sun on your face or the laughter of a friend, acknowledging the blessings in your life can help shift your perspective and foster a sense of contentment.

Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to friends, family, or professional support networks when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes, simply sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust can provide much-needed perspective and validation.

Disconnect Regularly: In today’s hyper-connected world, it’s important to carve out time for digital detoxes. Set aside designated periods each day or week to unplug from technology and engage in activities that nourish your soul, whether it’s pursuing a hobby, spending time in nature, or simply enjoying a quiet moment of solitude.

By incorporating these practices into your daily life, you can take proactive steps towards prioritizing your mental well-being and finding balance in an increasingly chaotic world. Remember, self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity for living a fulfilling and meaningful life.

  1. How do you envision the intersection of spirituality and self-care evolving in the coming years, and what role do you see your work playing in this evolution?

Ans:In the coming years, I envision the intersection of spirituality and self-care evolving into a more integrated and holistic approach to well-being. As society continues to grapple with the pressures of modern living, there is a growing recognition of the importance of nurturing not just our physical bodies, but also our minds and spirits.

I believe that spirituality and self-care will become increasingly intertwined, with individuals seeking practices and principles that address their deeper emotional and existential needs. This shift reflects a broader cultural movement towards mindfulness, inner healing, and personal growth.
