Hirakud Dam To Release Season’s First Flood On Sunday

The first flood of the current season will be released by Hirakud Dam on July 23 (Sunday) at 9:00 AM.

Hirakud Head Works & Additional Spillway, Burla’s Additional Chief Engineer published a notification for the general public. The water level in the reservoir is steadily increasing after rain in the Hirakud Dam’s upper catchment.

This is to alert everyone living downstream of Hirakud Dam that the first flood of the current season will be released from the reservoir on July 23, 2023, at 9:00 AM. The Mahanadi and its tributaries’ water levels will rise as a result of this. Therefore, caution must be exercised when entering the river and for other uses. The sign in Odia states that the Hirakud Dam management would not be held liable for any accidents.
