Do you miss going out for movies? Has this pandemic forced you to accept the world of OTT? Well, there is good news for all the moviegoers. Israel has come up with a new idea. In Israel, movie-goers boarded boats floating on the shimmering waters of a Tel Aviv lake for a test screening at Israel’s first “sail-in” cinema.
Tel Aviv municipality launched the floating cinema to allow residents to catch a movie in the open air while still keeping a safe distance from each other. The floating cinema provided seating aboard 70 pedal and rowing boats set in the Yarkon Park lake, two meters apart to maintain social distancing.
Paddington 2 was the first movie aired on August 20 in Israel’s floating cinema. About 200 people attended this screening, as per the reports. Also, for now, the municipality there has planned to run two movies every evening in the last week of August. However, the tickets for these movies are sold exclusively to the residents of Tel Aviv.
This is being considered as the new normal as people can gather in a particular place. Also taking in the experience of an open-air theatre, viewers can maintain a two-metre distance in the lake. This is to help them enjoy their movies outdoors, now that the indoor cinemas are shut due to the pandemic.
We are hopeful enough that soon India would come out with something innovative for cinema lovers.
