Make sure it’s a scam call if someone you don’t know calls and asks for information to update your voter identification. You can become a target for online scammers. Cybercriminals are using inventive tactics to trick unsuspecting individuals. The Commissionerate Police issued a warning about the new scammer technique.
According to DCP Prateek Singh of Bhubaneswar, cybercriminals have adapted new techniques to defraud people during election season. They will pretend to be calling and requesting that you update your voter card. Cybercriminals will inform you over the phone that you are unable to cast a ballot if your voter ID is out of date. Your bank account might be depleted in a matter of seconds if you become involved in such a call.
The DCP advised that if any one receives such call, they should immediately lodge a complaint on ‘Chakshu’ portal. They can also dial ‘1930’ to file the report.
