IIMC Dhenkanal to host the FILMY CHAKKAR 4.0 from 14-16th January 2023


Dhenkanal: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal is excited to announce that it will host a mega film event in January 2023. This event, titled “Filmy Chakkar 4.0,” will bring together film critics, academicians, and movie enthusiasts from across the state and beyond to engage in an intensive examination of the art of film. This is the 4th edition of Filmi Chakkar. The topic for intellection for the upcoming Filmi Chakkar is “Stardom as a phantasmal reality.” IIMC Dhenkanal has been organising this exclusive event since 2017, except for the 2 years of the COVID pandemic.

The event is a 3-day bouquet of film-related events, including a 2-day national conference which will entail 3 plenary sessions with 3 invited plenary speakers, along with the screening of films and documentaries, and an exclusive exhibition of film magazine covers. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to experts and academicians across India, and engage in lively discussions about the history and role of stardom in cinema, focusing primarily on developing the cinematic language around the concept of ‘Stardom.’As part of the event, Dr. Piyush Roy, a national award-winning film critic, writer and teacher will curate and conduct a Film appreciation workshop wherein participants will learn about the art of film appreciation, along with the fundamental concepts and conventions when it comes to analysing film texts. On successful completion of the workshop, the participants will be provided with a certificate from IIMC, Dhenkanal. The online curtain raiser of Filmi Chakkar 4.0 will be held on 7th January at 6.00 pm.
