Masarrat A Shah is an associate director in IT. He is an accomplished tv actor and author. He has curated the beautiful book “ My perspective and thoughts during the lockdown.”. Let us know more about him in this interview.
Q1) How did you understand your calling as an author ? What was your first writing experience ?
Ans : Well it started with a thought to give my side of the explanation or you can say perspective to various issues happening around me whether at work or in society, I felt I should pen down my thoughts and tell my side of the story what I think. So, I started writing short articles on LinkedIn and then moved to WordPress. I got good responses from the readers and sometimes short discussions and it gave me more confidence to write. My experience with writing was amazing and the first experience was overwhelming when I saw responses and readers agreeing to my viewpoints.
Q2) How did you decide the plot for “My perspective and thoughts during the lockdown”. Give us a short brief about the book .
Ans : During the lockdown, I wrote few articles on the way the situation was turning around and how it was affecting the people, whether employees, businessmen, children, relationships, etc. So, once the lockdown was lifted everything changed, the lifestyle of people, how people used to treat their day-to-day life, etc., and this became the plot of the book and wrote about various issues and topics. So, in this book readers can actually relate to the topics I have written.
Q3) Nowadays a majority of the youth is much more focused on social media rather than reading books. What is your view on this topic ?
Ans : Yes you are right, youth is more interested in social media and making themselves visible there. But I also have seen the majority of youth who are into poetry and storytelling. Young school kids are involved in writing and compiling of the anthology. So, I think now youth is tired of social media like FB, Insta, etc and moving away to other activities. But yes, long way to go. In my book, there are a few chapters on side effects of Social Media.

Well, mostly I write either late at night when everything is calm and quiet and on weekends because otherwise, it is difficult to concentrate because of work and other day-to-day activities.
Q5) We know that there is a lot of hard work that goes behind the launching of books .From preparing the final manuscript to writing the first draft till publishing. Tell us how your experience was and to whom would you dedicate your success in this entire process?
Ans : Yes, indeed it is a lot of work till the book takes its final polished shape and is ready to go. It was quite an experience but as this is my second book so it became easy to coordinate and collaborate with my publisher “True Dreamster Press”. They assigned a dedicated proofreader who coordinated with me at every step of proofreading. It was an amazing experience and I dedicate this success to my Father, who pushed me to publish a book.
