On this independence day for the first time, the Indian tricolour will be hoisted at the iconic Niagara Falls to mark the occasion.
Apoorva Srivastava, India’s Consul General to Toronto, said: “It is a matter of great pride that this Independence Day, iconic locations like Niagara Falls, CN Tower and the Toronto sign will be illuminated in Indian tricolour.”
Earlier, the world’s most breathtaking waterfalls, illuminated in saffron, white and green to mark the 70th Independence Day of India. This time the tricolour will be hoisted.
Apart from the traditional hoisting of the flag at the Indian High Commission in Ottawa and Consulates in Toronto and Vancouver, the Tricolour will also be featured at other significant locations in Canada, like the 553-metre high CN Tower in Toronto. The three-dimensional Toronto sign near City Hall in Canada’s largest city will be illuminated in the colours of the Indian flag.
The observance, at one of the world’s most picturesque spots, will be part of celebrations that is supposed to take place across Canada. People are applauding the Canadian government for this friendly gesture.
