The captain-cool MS Dhoni leading side Chennai Super Kings roared back to form in the IPL as they thrashed Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets at Dubai International Stadium and move up to the sixth position in the IPL points table.

Due to shaky batting performance, the mighty CSK at the bottom of the points table since last week. But the previous match against KXIP, the CSK batsman, bounce back with the class.

The Veteran Australian batsmen Shane Watson (83) and South African Faf du Plessis (87) remain unbeaten to help CSK chase down 179 runs with comfort.

CSK decided to go with the same playing XI despite the batsmen not performing in the earlier matches. However, MS Dhoni was pleased with the victory and gave credit to head coach Stephen Fleming.

“Fleming doesn’t get the kind of recognition he should,” MS Dhoni said. Both Fleming and Dhoni have the same plane for KXIP; that’s why they could win it easily, and that’s the relationship between us, Dhoni reveals.

At the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni said, “I think we did the small things right which were important to us. The kind of start we got in batting is much needed. Hopefully, we will be able to replicate this in the coming games.”

While asked about Watson finding form after a string of failures, Dhoni said that he was hitting it well in practice and what you need is to do that in the middle. It was just a matter of time.

“Faf is like a sheet anchor for CSK, keeps playing those shots in the middle. He can always confuse the bowler with his lap shots and all coming in. They complement each other,” Dhoni said further.

On being asked about the earlier three losses on the trot, MS Dhoni said, looking at the first 3-4 games, he learned that try to restrict the opponent as little as possible, which will add pressure further.

As CSK got their confidence, they will be eager to reach the top of the points table.
