The last night encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is nothing but the Universe Boss Chris Gayle storm in Dubai. The Gayle storm knockdown RCB bowlers; as a result, KXIP beat RCB by eight wickets.
However, Gayle was sitting on the bench since the 13th edition of IPL started, and yesterday he played his first match against RCB. As the KXIP franchise has some splendid performances from openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, so Gayle has to come at no 3.
While chasing 171 runs, the KXIP openers did their excellent job. Skipper KL Rahul (61* for 49 balls) and Mayank Agarwal (45 for 25 balls) give the superb start as the KXIP wants.
Then the Universe Boss Chris Gayle came to bat and everyone witness the Gayle storm. Gayle smashed 53 runs in 45 balls and sealed the deal for KXIP.
Gayle was seen pointing towards the ‘The Boss’ sign on his bat after reaching his half-century. In the post-match presentation, Gayle was asked about the gesture, and he explained the reasons.
On being asked about that gesture, Gayle said “All I was saying, put some respect on the name (by pointing to his bat sticker). That’s all.”
However, on being asked about his fitness Gayle said: ”I thought it was important to keep fit, I don’t like being on the bench but I was enjoying it, and apart from the sickness I have been getting fitter.”
As Gayle batted on no.3 against RCB, on being asked about that he said “Team asked me to do a job at 3 and it wasn’t an issue. Openers have been batting well throughout the tournament and we didn’t want to disturb that.”
However, it was the return of self-proclaimed ‘Universal Boss’ Chris Gayle who helped the Team to seal the deal.
