The Lingaraj temple, which has been closed for about nine months due to the Corona epidemic is set to reopen. The Lingaraj temple will open on December 27. Temple officials have informed about the opening of Lingaraj temple. The decision was taken at an administrative meeting to allow the public to visit, the officials said. However, devotees will be allowed to enter the temple after showing covid negative report. BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chowdhury said the test report should be four or five days old.
Family members of the officials are allowed to visit from the 27th to the 31st. Residents of the capital can visit Lingaraj Temple on the 3rd and 5th January. Due to the crowds, it has been decided to close the temple on January 1 and 2. The general public will be allowed to visit from the 7th. 500 devotees can visit daily. Social distance and wearing masks are mandatory during the visit. The next meeting will be held on the 27th and 29th. Entrance to the temple will be allowed after showing the Covid negative report. Screening camps will be held near the temple from 7 am to 10 pm.
The meeting was held at the BMC office with three recruitment officers, police officers, temple officials, sub-district magistrates. The meeting discussed how to open the temple and how many devotees would be allowed with all the Covid rules and regulations. Officials present at the meeting expressed their views.
