Professor Manas Ranjan Sahoo was named vice-chancellor of the Odisha University of Health Sciences by governor and chancellor of Odisha Raghubar Das. According to a release from the governor’s office, Manas, the head of the general surgery department at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, was named the vice chancellor of the Odisha University of Health Sciences. This position will be held for four years from the date of his assumption of responsibility or until he reaches the age of seventy under sub-section (6) of section 9 of the OUHS Act, 2021, or until further orders.
After finishing post-graduation in surgery at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai, Sahoo pursued a residency in surgical gastroenterology. He has over 26 years of experience as a teacher and 6 years as a professor or in a position similar to that. In addition, he has served as the chairman of the medical board of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, head of the department of general surgery, and professor.
