The Directorate of Horticulture’s different programs were the subject of a review meeting on Friday, which was presided over by Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Ranendra Pratap Swain. He urged all present to move quickly to accomplish the goals set forth in the recently announced Missions via the GOSUGAM site.
The Minister highlighted the demand for prompt reports on the ADAPT site within seven days about the physical and financial state of each program. He also suggested revamping AHOs and giving officials refresher training to increase their efficacy and efficiency. In order to update the physical and financial condition of each scheme on the ADAPT portal, the Minister requested that the Scheme Officers, Deputy Director of Horticulture, and Assistant Director of Horticulture of all districts do so within seven days. Additionally, he suggested that Assistant Horticulture Officers (AHOs) be restructured and that officials receive refresher training to increase their productivity.
According to Principal Secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Odisha’s horticultural industry has outperformed agriculture production. 13.69 million tonnes of horticultural products were produced in the state this year. He mentioned that the state’s 70 lakh residents are served by the department. Programs like “Nutrition at Doorsteps” and “Support to FPOs,” it helps needy families get the nourishment they need and raises farmers’ revenue.
Rohit Kumar Lenka, the director of horticulture, emphasized the significance of the five new programs that the State Government authorized this year in order to address old problems, increase farmer income, and enhance their quality of life. In order to properly execute the plans, he asked the officials to collaborate with farmers and Women’s Self-Help Groups (WSHGs).
