ODISHA sprinter Dutee Chand is going to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award this year. Dutee belongs from Jajpur, ODISHA who carved a niche for herself and won accolades at international level on several occasions. On August 21 the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports released the National Sports Awards 2020.

This year Odisha’s sprinter Dutee will get the prestigious Arjun Award in Athletics, and along with her more 27 sportspersons will get the Arjuna Award.

Apart from this the cricketer Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma are also going to receive the Arjuna Award.

ODISHA Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also congratulated Dutee Chand on his personal Twitter handle and said “congratulate ace sprinter from #odisha, Dutee Chand on being recommended to receive prestigious Arjuna Award. Odisha is proud of your achievement.”

India’s limited-overs vice-captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma is all set be conferred with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2020.  First time in the Indian history that five sportspersons are going to receive the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award is merely given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over four years.

The selection committee also chose 15 sportspersons for Dhyanchan Award and eight coaches for Dronacharya award in Life-time category.
