Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the launch of the Anaemia Mukta Lakhya Abhiyan (AMLAN) in the state today. The programme will be carried out by several departments, including Health & Family Welfare, School & Mass Education, Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and ST & SC Development Department.
The CM virtually launched the programme and stated that it is our own programme for ridding the state of anaemia, particularly among women and children, and that the programme will benefit approximately 1.37 crore people, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, women of reproductive age, adolescents, and children.
The main interventions are iron and folic acid supplementation, haemoglobin testing, anaemia treatment, capacity building for service providers, and social behaviour change communication. According to the CM, this programme will be implemented in 55 thousand government and government-aided schools and 74 thousand Anganwadi Centres across the state.
The CM urged the concerned departments and on-the-ground service providers to collaborate for the successful implementation of AMLAN in order to achieve Anaemia Mukta Odisha. The CM also published the AMLAN Operational Guidelines.
