India’s former left-hander all-rounder Irfan Pathan has expressed surprise at MS Dhoni’s new training regime in the UAE ahead of the IPL 2020. Captain cool MS Dhoni never practices wicketkeeping in the nets but has made an exception this time around.
As per the video shared by Chennai Super Kings Dhoni was seen keeping wickets as part of his training drill. Pathan reckons that it could be due to his absence from cricket in over a year.
Irfan Pathan said to Star Sports that they had seen a new visual where MS Dhoni practices wicketkeeping in the nets. He was surprised after seen him wicketkeeping practice because Dhoni never practices wicketkeeping, whether it is for the Indian team or in league with CSK.
This could be because of Dhoni has not played cricket for a long time. Pathan also added that Dhoni might be trying to check the new leg-spinner bowlers that’s why he is doing keeping during practice. It is good to see that Dhoni is doing keeping during practice, further Pathan added.
July of last year MS Dhoni played his last game of cricket which is the semifinal of the World Cup against New Zealand was ended in heartbreak for India.
On August 15 MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket but he is keen to get back playing for CSK, and he is the man who has moulded CSK into the best IPL teams of all time.
In the opener match of IPL 2020 on September 19, CSK will be taking on Mumbai Indians, and Dhoni has more responsibility this time around in the absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh.
Pathan said, Dhoni practising wicketkeeping is good visuals because there has been some disruption in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the withdrawal of two players with Suresh Raina coming back and Harbhajan Singh not playing.
It is good news that practice session has also started and it is not a surprise that fans have reached UAE to see MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan said.
This is happening since IPL started although Covid is there, still fans have reached there to watch MS Dhoni.
