Odisha To Resume Auction Of 11 Mining Blocks During 2021-22 Financial Year

During the 2021-22 financial years, Odisha Government to auction 11 mining blocks for bidding.  The auction process will be completed by this March as per the Government sources.

Debidutta Biswal, Mines Director stated that the auction process of these 11 mining blocks of iron ore, manganese, graphite, limestone, and dolomite is estimated to be completed by March this year.

Even the auction documents of the mining blocks have been already sent to the State government for minor amendments and the bidding process will immediately start as soon as the documents are revised by the government.

 Odisha Government had already set a target of the auction of 24 mineral blocks in the 2020-21 financial years.  And the process regarding the mining auction was almost completed.  But a mining lease for 19 mineral blocks could be executed.

Debidutta Biswal, Mines Director stated that the mining lease agreement failed to materialize within the specified time period the Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) and Shyam Steel Industries Ltd had to lose Guali iron ore and Jilling-Langalota Iron ore mines, respectively.

Even by referring to the non-execution of the auction of three mining blocks he further stated that both the mines are now allotted to the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) for 10 years.
