With the political competition wave spreading and the heat waves in Odisha intensifying, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto for the state. Among the few promises in the manifesto that could significantly impact the outcome of the upcoming elections are a few pivotal measures that could act as a turning point and increase anticipation among voters.  Opening all four gates of the Shri Jagannath Temple, constructing Odia Samudaya Bhawan, and creating 25 lakh Lakhpati didis that would support every 500 SHGs are the main promises that can come true.

1: In order to make Odisha one of the leading states in the country, it would be necessary to remove linguistic barriers and establish Odia Samudaya Bhawans in all major towns. This will facilitate the popularisation of Odia culture and encourage and promote cultural activities. The nation will see a greater dissemination of values through various initiatives like as cultural research, community empowerment, and promoting local arts and crafts.

2: Being a symbol of the people of Odisha’s devotion, attachment, and love, the Puri Shri Jagannath Temple has faced many difficulties and crises when people have come to see Lord Jagannath for darshan and  one way entrances becomes problematic and many people become frustrated when they wait so long in queue for a proper chance to receive darshan and don’t get a proper darshan . However, once all four gates are opened and a proper management system is in place, all devotees will have easier access to the darshan, which is a key chance we can expect . Along with this, there are a few more things like fixing the problem with the missing Ratna Bhadar keys and fixing the auditing procedure.

3: Establishing an industrial culture for each of the 500 SHGs is a great initiative that will not only increase their motivation but also provide them with a platform to display their abilities to a wider audience and highlight hidden and local arts, crafts, and ideas. This will encourage them to keep working hard and produce wise results.

The items listed above are just a few to review; nevertheless, there are more pledges, including supporting Kisan to advancing the fields of education.

However, there is another angle to consider. All of the promises include freebies, which has been a major concern for our developing nations. Additionally, other free initiatives where freebies are being introduced will raise concerns for tax-paying citizens. If the plans are fully realised, it may be a little difficult to accept, but we can do so for the benefit of the state; however, if they are not implemented correctly, all of the taxes we pay will end up in the debris.
