The State government is concentrating on energizing and strengthening the education sector in order to help students realize their career dreams. Government high schools and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas in the district of Sundargarh, which is affected by mining, are being modernized as part of the vision. The Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation is offering financial support for the same (OMBADC). Modern facilities are being added to several government high schools in the Sundargarh district as part of the High School Transformation Programme Under 5T. 347 high schools now have e-libraries, smart classrooms, ICT labs, and modern science labs thanks to OMBADC funding.
Children use smart boards to participate in lessons and learn concepts in an engaging and natural way. In a similar vein, they receive practical instruction utilizing the most recent scientific tools found in a contemporary science lab. High school students can now access digital skills because of the new ICT labs in schools. Furthermore, by providing access to information from around the world, the e-Library facility aids in their learning beyond the books.
“Teachers are teaching us in school with the help of smart boards. As a result, it is easier for us to understand out subjects. Earlier we used to only read books and see pictures, now we can apply our learning on our own in the science lab. Through this, we gain more knowledge about science,” said Pooja Barua, a student of Kutra Government High School in Sundargarh district.
With the assistance of the OMBADC, playgrounds and sporting goods are developed in government high schools. This provides the students with a chance to showcase their athletic abilities. With the assistance of the OMBADC, over 1600 government high schools located in seven districts affected by mining in the state have been included in this transformation process. In every district block, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) are being built to provide rural children with high-quality education in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. With OMBADC’s assistance, the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya’s infrastructure—which is present in each of the district’s 17 blocks—is further strengthened.
