In the special video message, he talked about his unconditional love for ‘pakhala’ and his liking for ‘pithas’
Odisha tourism department has planned to promote both tourism in Odisha and the state’s cuisines, and it has intended to broadcast a programme called “Ama Ghara Ama Handishala”.
In the promo of the programme the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, through a video message, expressed his love for the quintessential staple diet of Odias, i.e. .”Pakhala” or watered rice and other famous cuisines of the state like “pitha”.
He then mentioned specifically about Puri Jagannath Temple and said “Odisha is a land of Lord Jagannath, who Himself is a Chhapanbhogi. I have a special liking for Odia festivals, different pithas and food of Odisha. Even, I only serve Odia food to the guests visiting my residence from outside. Odia cuisine has its own identity, and I like ‘Pakhala’ the most.”
He also talked about his few favourite dishes while extending his best wishes to the programme based on cuisines of Odisha scheduled to be aired on Doordarshan from August 15.
Naveen Patnaik has always been vocal about Odisha culture and Odia food. In several incidents from the past, pictures of his residence in which political stalwarts relishing over Odia food caught a glimpse of the nation.
