The All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association declared today that it will go on strike starting on October 20 throughout the whole state in opposition to the government’s Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative (LAccMI) program. Association Treasurer Barada Acharya and Secretary Debendra Sahu provided the information. Unwillingly, the association is going on strike since the government has not fulfilled its commitment.
“We were promised by the administration that buses would not be operated under the LAccMI program from blocks to district offices. Since the guarantee was not met, we were compelled to launch a strike, according to Sahu.
“We sincerely apologize to the passengers for any inconvenience caused by the Puja celebration. All we could do was go with what we had.”
Since buses would be off the road starting at the start of the Dussehra celebration, commuters around the state are extremely concerned about the association’s decision.
