Mahashivratri celebrated at famous Kapilash temple in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal : On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the famous Kapilash temple situated in Dhenkanal district witness a large number of devotees today. Thousands  of people were seen lined up in queue for the darshan. This year devotees from Dhenkanal district only were allowed for the darshan.WhatsApp Image 2022-03-01 at 5.59.31 PMThe temple was decked-up for Mahashivratri, and beautifully decorated with different flowers, the entrance of the temple was also decorated with different kinds of colourful flowers.

“I am very much happy that today on Mahashivratri I am able to have the Darshan of Lord Chandrashekhar, I have come from Dhenkanal town,” said , Ashirbad priyadarshi, a devotee.

Dhenkanal Municipality enhance beauty of road sides by installing flower pots

Dhenkanal Municipality has taken an initiative to beautify both the sides of the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Marg’ in the town streching from Dhenkanal Stadium chowk to Ganesh Bazaar. The civic body has placed more than four hundred flower and different plant pots on both the sides of the road, making the sides of the road beautiful as well attractive. The road is quite important because of several government offices including district Collectorate situated in one side of the road and this step by the civic body of the town has enhanced the beauty over there. Not only that the flower pots are also painted with different colours which is also looking quite enchanting.

Dhenkanal Municipality Executive officer Atanu Kumar Samanta said, ” As Mahatma Gandhi road is a VIP road, and all important offices especially Collectorate, SP office, DFO office, District Head Post office etc., are present and sufficient space was there so we did it and the main intention is to make Dhenkanal clean, green and beautiful.”WhatsApp Image 2022-01-27 at 1.18.14 PMPratiksha Sahoo, a native of Dhenkanal town said, ” This step taken by Dhenkanal Municipality is really appreciable, those flower and different plant pots placed on both the sides of the road from Dhenkanal Stadium to Ganesh bazaar is enhancing the beauty of the town.”

Youth from Dhenkanal converts bicycle into e-cycle

Siddhartha Prasad Das, a seventeen-year-old boy from Dhenkanal has come to public glare after he converted his own bicycle to a battery operated e-cycle and for which he has garnered manifold appreciations.

It took him around three days to make the e-cycle. The e-cycle can run upto a speed of 30 kmph and it takes around three-four hours for charging. Once charged the e-cycle can go upto a distance of 30 kms as informed by Siddhartha.WhatsApp Image 2022-01-18 at 2.33.08 PM (2) Siddharth Prasad Das said, “During the first wave coronavirus lockdown I was sitting idle at home and thinking of doing something Innovative, so I thought of converting my cycle to a battery operated e-cycle and I did it.”

Siddhartha also said ” I have used a 36 v lithium battery, a 36 v controller, electric throttle, electric motor and other electric components in order to convert my bicycle to a e-cycle.”WhatsApp Image 2022-01-18 at 2.33.08 PM (1)Siddhartha is currently pursuing his plus two second year science and a native of Beltigiri of Dhenkanal district and currently resides in Dhenkanal town.

Dhenkanal Conscious Citizen Forum distribute food kits

The town branch of Dhenkanal Conscious Citizen forum distributed dry food kits containing poha, atta, oil, soap, dal, biscuit, tea, salt, gumucha etc. to the people living in Sitala basti, near the railway station of Dhenkanal on Tuesday afternoon. In this programme, which was conducted under the leadership of town president Amendra Sahu, adviser of the forum Shri Pankaj Kumar Nayak, Secretary Shri Bharat Kumar Das, joint secretary Adv. In an Interview with Dr. Prakash Chand Gogineni(IFS)

Dr. Prakash Chand Gogineni is a 2009 batch IFS officer, born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Prakash is currently posted as DFO, Dhenkanal (Dhenkanal Forest Division). Interview Times had a good conversation with him on a chilly winter dawn at his office. Below are the answers he responded to Interview Times questionnaire:- WhatsApp Image 2022-01-10 at 1.23.11 PM (2)Q1-What inspired you to go for Indian Forest Service?

Answer: I was preparing for all civil services after my Post Graduation. In the process I cleared Indian Forest Service. Since childhood I was very much interested in forest and wildlife.

Q2- Currently you are posted in Dhenkanal, could you please share about your experience here?

Answer: Dhenkanal is a very challenging division, mainly because of huge human-elephant conflict. There are about 200 plus elephants round the year. Dhenkanal town and people have accepted me very well and also I enjoy working with them. In the process I could contribute in resolving long standing problems in last one-and-half years.

Q3- What do you like to do on Sundays and holidays?

Answer: As such as there are fewer holidays, still on holidays I like to do photography and spent time with elephants in the elephant rescue centre.

Q4- Can you please share your journey of becoming an IFS officer?

Answer: I did my BSc Agriculture in Coimbatore, during which I travelled to nearby National parks and Sancturies, such as Anamalai, Silent valley, Mudumalai and Bandipur, where I was fascinated with the forest service. Then I move for my post graduation to IARI, Pusa. During my study there I came to know about civil services and after my MSc I started writing for civil services examination and cleared for forest service.

Q5- Can you please share any tips or advice to our readers who aspires to become IFS officer like you?

Answer: Indian Forest Service is a very satisfying job and also challenging job. If anyone wants to work in forest for nature and wildlife, then Indian Forest Service gives excellent opportunities.

Q6- What are the biggest challenges you faced in your life and did you overcome them?

Answer: Rescuing and rehabilitating of elephants back to wild, particularly in Dhenkanal, often we had to rescue elephants and releasing back into the wild is a very difficult job, but for the first time we could succeed to successfully rehabilitate.

Q7-In our district we notice human-elephant conflict many times, what are the steps taken to tackle it?

Answer: To prevent the loss of life is our first priority. In Dhenkanal during 2020-21 thirty three people died because of human-elephant conflict. Because of this we started “Gaja Sathi” programme, in which many village volunteers called “Gaja Sathi” were trained and supported to tackle human-elephant conflict because of which number of human deaths( 2021-22) as of today has decreased by 50 percent.

Q8- What message would you like to share with our readers?

Answer: My message is to everyone should contribute directly or indirectly for protection of nature or wildlife. The first step can be not to pollute the environment by throwing polythene in nature.


Saptasajya witness dip in tourist footfall amid Picnic season

Saptasajya, one of the famous tourist destination of the state, well known and loved for its sheer natural beauty is witnessing a fall of tourist this picnic season. Not only this year, last year too the number of tourists have decreased that used to come here during the picnic season. Every year from the month of October to February the place is thronged by large number of tourists and sightseers coming from different parts of the state and beyond to have a glimpse of its rich natural beauty and enjoy Picnic. Saptasajya is situated almost a distance of 11 kms from Dhenkanal town, famous for its natural enchanting beauty and a well known picnic spot of the state.

Dhenkanal Conscious Citizen Forum extends new year Greetings

Dhenkanal Conscious Citizen forum Gondia branch distributes English kits to Children.

Gondia branch of Dhenkanal Conscious Citizen forum distributed English kits to small children in Pingua Grampanchayat of Gondia block. Educator Gopal Chandra Mahalik in his speech described in brief about how the importance of education is in supreme place in building the society. ‘I LOVE DHENKANAL’ selfie point becomes town’s new attraction

Dhenkanal : Recently innagurated ‘ I Love Dhenkanal’ Selfie point situated near the Dhenkanal Stadium in Mahatma Gandhi road has now started attracting large number of people there. As days pass on, many people are seen visiting to this selfie point and clicking photographs. This selfie point has now become a new attraction in the town and also  enhancing the beauty of the town. Especially during the night time the illuminating bright lights fitted there are making it more beautiful. Also many college going students are seen coming here and taking selfies infront of this selfie point.

Handicrafts Exhibition attracting people in Dhenkanal

The Handicrafts Exhibition 2021 which started from 14 November in the Congress Ground, infront of the Tehsil office in Dhenkanal town has started attracting large number of visitors. Especially during the evening time the Handicrafts Exhibition is witnessing increasing number of visitors. The exhibition is organised by Radha, Dhenkanal, Odisha and Sponsered by Development Commissioner (H) Ministry of Textile, Govt. Of India, New Delhi and will continue till 28 November this year. WhatsApp Image 2021-11-24 at 12.27.41 PMEveryday tens of hundreds of people are flocking to this exhibition, the vendors taking part in the exhibition are not only from our state, but from other states have too arrived here and set their stalls inside the exhibition. Various types of items are available in the exhibition including Handloom items, dress, shoes, floor carpets, potteries, door and floor mats, furnitures, sofa sets, food items, cup and plates, cup and plates, flower vase, jewellery, home decor items and many more things are available in the exhibition.
