Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 24 Mega Watt Baitarini Mini Hydropower Project at Singhanali of Anandapur, Keonjhar. The inauguration was arranged via video conferencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CM Patnaik stated that District Mineral Fund (DMF) is the collection of people’s funds, and it will be utilized for the welfare of the people only. Odisha Keonjhar has an outstanding contribution to the economy both to the state and the nation. He further informed that the work is underway to set a medical college and hospital in Keonjhar. Even all the significant steps have been taken for the improvement of the roads in the district. Along with the streets, work is going on for the piped drinking water for all the villages through a mega drinking water project. Even the Lower Baitarini Minor Irrigation Project is also a breakthrough in growing and reusable energy.
CM also expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing project, which is altogether environment friendly, and till now, not a single person has been dislodged due to it. Odisha is on the verge of having many small power projects, which will eventually help cope with the difficulties faced due to climate change. This project, constructed over the Baitarini river, has been established by Hyderabad based Baitarini Power Project Private Limited. The State power grid can get 100 million units of power from this unit yearly. Even the Anandapur area will get quality energy from this project.
Premanand Nayak, Minister of Skill Development and Technical Education, said, “This project has computed to the renewable energy capacity of Odisha and it will be benefited to the people of Keonjhar and the entire state.”
Dibya Shankar Mishra, Energy Minister, stated that the project plays a significant role in providing the grid power during these peak load hours. He also praised CM’s farsightedness and strong leadership for this project.
