‘Enormous Damage To US Security Agencies By Trump Administration’ Says Joe Biden

Joe Biden recently stated that the agencies are critical to US security which has suffered “enormous damage” at the Trump administration’s hands. Biden’s team wasn’t able to get the information it needed including from the Department of Defence, as it transitioned to power.

As per the BBC report, Mr Biden, after a briefing by the National security and foreign policy aides, spoke about the matter stating that the US security suffered heavy damage in Trump’s administration.

After his remark, Acting Defence Secretary Christopher Miller stated officials had been working with the utmost professionalism to support transition activities. “The Department of Defense has conducted 164 interviews with over 400 officials and provided over 5,000 pages of documents – for more than initially requested by Biden’s transition team,” he said after a briefing by national security and foreign policy aides.

Joe Biden also stated that his team was facing roadblocks in the Department of Defence and the Office of Management and Budget. As of now, the team is not getting any information that they should be getting from the outgoing administration in key national security areas. And the whole point is kind of irresponsibility, as depicted by Mr Biden.

The report further stated that Mr Biden’s team needed a clear picture of our force posture worldwide and that US adversaries could exploit any confusion that resulted.

Joe Biden after winning will take office on 20 January, but President Donald Trump has refused to accept defeat in November’s election. For weeks after the 3 November election, Mr Biden was blocked from receiving key intelligence briefings, an essential and normal routine part of a presidential transition.

Twitter To Make @POTUS Account Begin With Zero Followers

Twitter will make US Presidential-elect Joe Biden’s @POTUS account and @WhiteHouse account to a fresh start from zero followers. This will be done once Mr Biden will swear in as the next US President on 20th January 2021.

Rob Flaherty, Biden’s digital director in a quote to the media report stated that the social media platforms would not be transferring the existing accounts as POTUS and @WhiteHouse followers to the new administration. Where @POTUS currently has 33.2 million followers, @TheWhiteHouse has 26 million followers on Twitter.

As per the reports, this decision taken for Mr Biden officials accounts is the complete appositive of what happened to the Trump administration time when he took over the accounts from the Obama administration.

The report stated that-  “Back then, Twitter essentially duplicated the existing accounts, creating an archive of Obama-era tweets and followers and building a new set of accounts for the incoming administration that retained all of those followers without any of the tweets.”

According to Twitter, the accounts for @VP, @FLOTUS, @PressSec, @Cabinet, and @LaCasaBlanca will also have their followers gone. The Twitter official informed that this is an ongoing discussion with the Biden transition team on several aspects related to White House account transfers.

Earlier the company informed that all existing tweets on those accounts would be archived and it will transfer the accounts — reset to zero tweets — to Biden.

Whereas Donald Trump’s @POTUS account will be renamed @POTUS45 and “frozen as-is” and he will be in control of @realDonaldTrump, although with fewer protections than before.

From 20th January onwards, Trump will lose special privileges on Twitter, and his tweets will be treated like any other user.

The Electoral College affirms President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory

President-elect Joe Biden finally won the state-by-state Electoral College Vote officially and delivered a powerful lecture to President Donald Trump’s attack on the legitimacy of his victory.

As per a Reuters report California, the most-populous U.S. state, put Biden over the 270 votes required to win the Electoral College when its 55 electors consistently cast ballots for him. After officially winning the U.S. election, Mr. Biden gave a speech saying – “In this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed. Now it’s time to turn the page, as we’ve done throughout our history  to unite, to heal. The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago, We now know that not even a pandemic or an abuse of power can extinguish that flame.”

U.S. President Donald Trump alleged that the Voter was all fraud on the 3rd November election and tried to subvert the process. In 2016, Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton despite losing the national popular vote by nearly 3 million ballots.

Biden then reiterated that Donald and his allies filed many legal challenges to the vote totals, including a Texas lawsuit that asked the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate four state’s results. Later the court rejected all the bids with no objections last week.

After Biden’s victory, Kamala Harris-the first woman, first Black person and first Asian American to become vice president-elect – will be declared in on 20th January.

US President-elect Joe Biden chose retired General Lloyd Austin as his defence secretary. As per the US media report, Gen Austin, who is 67years old, will become the first African-American to lead the Pentagon.

The BBC reports stated that Gen Austin has already led US Central Command during the Obama administration, which would need a congressional wavier as it is less than seven years since he retired. After the announcement of other senior members for his national security team, Mr. Biden reported this decision to the press.

The report further stated that Mr. Biden and Gen Austin had made no public comments on the issue. But earlier media reports suggested that the Democratic president-elect would nominate veteran Pentagon official Michèle Flournoy for the job and that she would have been the first woman to hold the position.

Gen Austin had once been viewed as a long-shot candidate – but that in recent days he had emerged as a top-tier contender and a safe choice and that his emergence as a potential choice came amid growing calls from national civil rights organizations and Democratic Asian, Black, and Latino caucuses to ensure that Mr. Biden nominated minorities and women to senior cabinet posts.

According to CBS, Gen Austin faces a couple of hurdles, including his position in recent years as a member of the board of directors of defense contractor Raytheon.
