The State Government has given patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) a strong helping hand by allowing each patient to receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs 10 lakhs for meeting the requirements for an electric wheelchair, suitable physiotherapy, genetic testing, and treatments in higher super specialty institutions. According to a formal press release, the Department of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification to this effect today under notification number 12975.
The announcement also included instructions on how the financial aid would be distributed. It said that the sufferers’ families will advocate for financial aid before the relevant District Collector. The Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer in question would confirm the assertion.
Following the proper steps, the Collector of the relevant district would approve the aid from CMRF of Rs. 10 lakh, which would be credited to the bank accounts of the patients who were still alive. The government has received thanks from DMD sufferers and their families for this assistance.
