The Modern Folklore Of World Cricket Is Back: IPL 2021

It seems yesterday that we witnessed the finals of IPL 2020, and here is the gala event back once again. IPL 2021 will commence from today, i.e., April 9, 2020, and will continue to entertain the audience throughout the globe for two months.

IPL 2020 was one of the most significant events in the history of cricket. Even though there were no crowds in last year’s edition of the IPL, it was the most viewed tournament of the year. Such is the craze of this fascinating competition. A marquee tournament held outside the country, with players worldwide, with proper bio-secure bubbles and zero CO-VID cases throughout the game, speaks volumes of the BCCI and its management. However, challenges are even more this time with the 14th edition of IPL being held in India when the country is going through the worst second CO-VID 19. So what do we expect in this season of IPL??? Let us go through them one by one-

No Crowds In IPL 2021

With the second phase of CO-VID getting stronger, indeed, this year’s IPL will also be without crowds. Even though the BCCI informed that crowds might come into the stadium in later stages, seeing the current CO-VID scenario, it looks highly uncertain.

No Home Game For Any Teams In IPL 2021

IPL 2021 will be the first edition of the tournament where not a single team will be assigned a home ground. Due to the bio-buddle security and safety of players and their families, BCCI listed five venues where all the tournament matches will be held. The venues are Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. Therefore, not allowing any team to get an unfair and unbiased advantage, BCCI ruled out any home games for IPL teams.

Strict Rules Of Over-rate In IPL 2021

For the past few years, there has been a lot of criticism on cricket matches not ending in the scheduled time due to slow over-rate, especially in the limited-overs matches. Therefore, to make things strict, BCCI has made it compulsory to complete one inning of 20 overs in 90 minutes (barring two strategic time-outs of 2.5 minutes each). Therefore, the over-rate for each team now needs to be 14.11 per innings. Not completing the match on schedule time will lead to heavy punishment on the side’s captain and its members.

No Soft Signal

Recently, in the India-England limited over series, many controversies got up due to the umpire’s soft signal. Therefore the BCCI has decided to stop the soft signal, and referees can say they are unsure of an incident while directing it to the third-umpire.

Last IPL For Many Legends

Ipl is the tournament where talent meets opportunities. Many great players have become legends through the platform of the IPL. Moreover, there have been many legends of the game born because of the IPL. However, sadly every year turns out to be the last IPL for many legends due to their age.

This year we may finally have to bid farewell to some of the superstars of cricket such as M.S Dhoni, AB De Villers, Imran Tahir, Chris Gayle, Amit Mishra, and few other players.

One thing which every year of IPL brings us is tons of entertainment. There are close matches, brutal hitting, flying catches, scintillating centuries, and toe-crushing yorkers. This year will also be the same. IPL 14 will surely bring entertainment to the millions of cricket fans worldwide amidst the tension and depression of CO-VID.

IPL 14 is just a few moments to get started. Let’s take a back seat and enjoy the fun of a two-month commercial masala cinema in our house’s sofas.
