Meet the world’s youngest billionaire 26-year-old Ritesh Agarwal who brought disruption in the Indian hospitality industry. He is the founder and CEO of the disruptive hospitality business and app – Oyo Rooms – a network of 2200 hotels operating in 154 cities across India.
Ritesh Agarwal was born in Bissam Cuttack, Odisha, and brought up in Titilagarh. He grew up in a poor family and struggled for around 18 years. At the age of 13, he started selling SIM cards.
He graduated from St. Johns senior secondary school and moved to Delhi in 2011 for college. He was dropped out of college, and that point of time he felt that was the toughest period of his life. At some point, he was kicked out of his apartment with $0.05 in his account.
He doesn’t care about money and believes that it is always about solving a real problem. He noticed that a nearby hotel was empty, so he went to the owner and took the biggest risk of his life.
He promises to make his hotel better! He changes the entire structure of the rooms and took a nice picture of the hotel to put them on the internet and changed the name and called it OYO HOTEL.
Suddenly the hotel went from empty to full and it worked! Then he was pretty sure that he could change hundreds of hotels. At the age of 20, he raised money from investors and hired 50 people, then he had 500 hotels, and by the age of 24, he raised 1 billion dollars. Right now he has 43,000 hotels and built the second-largest hotel chain in the world and he is not even 30 years old.
He became the world’s youngest billionaire in 6 years and helped 350,000 people to get jobs. This isn’t just luck this is the definition of hard work.
