The Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who is also in charge of Finance and Environment and Forest departments of Bihar ask the people of the state to take a pledge to protect trees and environment by tying “rakhis” to trees in their home and surrounding areas on the Rakhya Bandhan day.
On Rakhya Bandhan of this year, it is not possible to organize such programmes, that used to be a large scale function every year to tie Rakhi to trees because of COVID-19 pandemic says, Sushil Modi.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also said that “in such the situation, every person should come forward and show their fondness and liking to protect trees and environment by tying “Raksha sutra” around trees in their premises and vicinity”.
Bihar Prithvi Diwas under “Mission 2.51 crore plantation” was scheduled to be taken up on August 9. Still, because of coronavirus pandemic, the plantation drive has already been launched a month ago to carry it out in a staggered manner, Sushil Modi said.
The DyCM appealed to all self-help groups, Jeevika Didis, Anganwadi Kendras, central paramilitary forces and public sector and government sector as well at least plant a single tree on your garden and take care of it from today onwards.
During the period of COVID crises, it’s an excellent opportunity to take care of a tree and making our environment much healthier and much better.
Maybe one of us can’t make a difference, but together we can. Let’s plant a tree on this Rakhya Bandhan and keep our environment safe and save a life as well.
