Top 20 most inspirational personalities of odisha: “Walking Institution”
Born in June 1961, Anil Kanta Tripathy hails from Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district. A BTech in civil engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut (Kerala), Tripathy is a life member of Indian Roads Congress and Indian Building Congress and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, India. He joined the government service in 1983 serving in an array of positions- Assistant Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Chief Engineer and the latest position being the Engineer-in-Chief under the Department of Works. Tripathy has rendered his services to the works department, Odisha State Housing Board, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) and Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) in the field of development and infrastructure.
Q. How do you feel being selected for Top 20 Most Inspirational personalities of Odisha 2020 as a top Engineer?
I feel encouraged and motivated to inspire more and more engineers to serve dedicatedly to the societies in developing the infrastructure of the state.
2. What was your turning point in making you as a responsible and professional Engineer?
Finding a solution to stabilize a well Foundation of high level Bridge over river Bansadhara in Rayagada district while cooking, at about 9pm in 1986 and running to office in night to complete the design, was definitely the turning point of my life professionally.
3. How does your PWD department carry development things especially in COVID?
To be fair enough, our department has done outstandingly in setting up Covid centres and isolation centres across the state in a short span of time. More essentially, it was the order of those times we delivered it to perfection.
4. The PWD department has brought many smiles to rural roads and buildings denizens. Does it always consist of your leadership as EIC, PWD?
The Department of Works is responsible for development and maintenance of infrastructure like roads, bridges and buildings which we do with utmost duty.
5. What motivates you to perform as always best?
Encouragement of higher authorities and cooperation of colleagues motivate me to be more better and better.
