Convocation is one of the nicest times of the year for the University since it embodies the core of the institution and is the culmination of everything we accomplish. The much-anticipated convocation event is a living testament to the great education that the students have received. On Friday, April 29th, 2022 at 5:30 p.m., XIM University successfully held its Eighth Convocation in hybrid style for its Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes.
The doctoral and postgraduate programmes have a total of 05 and 630 students getting degrees, respectively. A total of 33 medals were awarded to deserving students for their academic achievements. The evening’s Chief Guest and Convocation Speaker was Shri. Sanjiv Puri, Chairman and Managing Director of ITC Limited. In 1986, he joined ITC. He has held many business leadership positions at ITC and its subsidiaries throughout the course of his three-decade career, as well as a wide range of responsibilities in manufacturing, operations, and information and digital technologies. He is currently a member of the CII and FICCI National Executive Committees, as well as the FICCI Steering Committee.He is a Director on the Board of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Co-Chair of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s ‘Business Commission to Tackle Inequality,’ and a Member of the BRICS Business Council. The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur awarded him the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Year 2018’.
Shri. Sanjiv Puri received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from XIM University during the 8th Convocation. Fr. Jerome Cutinha, S.J., Chairman, XIM University Board of Governors, Shri. Rajive Kaul, Emeritus Chairman, XIM University Board of Governors, Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J., Vice Chancellor, XIM University, Fr. S. Antony Raj, S.J., Registrar, Fr. V. Arockia Das, S.J., Chief Finance Officer, XIM University, Deans of A few of the Board’s most illustrious members also attended. In the hybrid format, Prof. S. Peppin, Dean, School of Governance and Public Affairs, extended a warm greeting to the guests and audience.
In his report, Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J., Vice Chancellor of XIM University, elaborated on the University’s accomplishments throughout the previous year and highlighted a few noteworthy aspects. In his Chairman’s speech, Fr. Jerome Cutinha, S.J. conveyed his thoughts on learning and development to the audience. He stated that this degree is merely a stepping stone to greater achievements in life. “Your success is our success,” he said.
Shri Rajive Kaul, the Emeritus Chairman, spoke to the audience about the challenges of living in these extraordinary times. Shri Sanjiv Puri, the evening’s Convocation Speaker and Chief Guest, spoke about change and its acceptance. He discussed three key aspects of change that must be addressed in order to thrive and succeed: the desire to change, empowerment, and adaptability. The Chief Guest presented Gold Medals to the top rank holders in each school for their academic excellence. Finally, the Registrar, Fr. S. Antony Raj, S.J., gave a vote of appreciation, bringing the occasion to a triumphant conclusion.
