Nine people, including a 2 months old, have died in Hyderabad ( video footage link) after a compound wall crumbled and fell on ten houses because of heavy downpour last night. The bodies are found in the flotsam and jetsam.
Telangana and neighboring Andhra Pradesh have been witnessing brawny downpour for the last three days. Twelve people have succumbed to death in Telangana over the last 48 hours following unceasing downpours that lashed several parts of the state, prompting flooding on roads and alluvion of some low-lying zones.
A several zones in Hyderabad are overflowed and vehicles can’t move because of overwhelmed streets. As per the latest information14 districts of Telangana have been affected .
The floodgates of the Himayat Sagar dam, that supplies water to Hyderabad, were opened late last night after the water levels rose.
Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted on last night’s wall collapse in the Telangana capital.
“#HyderabadRains, I was at a spot inspection in Mohammedia Hills, Bandlaguda where a private boundary wall fell resulting in death of 9 people & injuring 2. On my from there, I gave a lift to stranded bus passengers in Shamshabad, now I’m on my way to Talabkatta & Yesrab Nagar,” he tweeted.
Authorities in Hyderabad have cautioned individuals to not venture out because of the hefty downpour.
A deep depression formed over the Bay of Bengal caused extremely substantial downpour in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha. The depression carried 11 to 24 cm of downpour at more than hundred areas in Andhra Pradesh.
An employee at ETV Bharat shared his experience with our reporter told that “Generally it would take 30-45 minutes from LB Nagar to Ramoji Film City but yesterday it took two and half to 3 hours. Water all around, cars were submerged and no current as well. Traffic police personals were struggling to manage the traffic but it seems next to impossible to reach home at night. I Thanked the bus service provided by company.”
