Kandhamal MP and educationist Dr Achyuta Samanta was awarded his 50th doctorate degree on Friday by Utkal University, which conferred a DLitt on him. It is given in recognition of his contributions to education and social service.
Samanta, an alumni of Utkal University, was awarded the degree by university Chancellor and Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. According to the Governor, Samanta embodies key human characteristics such as humility, gratitude, and goodness, among others.
Samanta thanked Prof Lal, Vice-Chancellor Sabita Acharya, and the university syndicate. “I’ve received numerous honours and awards. Some awards, however, are extra special, such as this one. “I am overjoyed that my alma mater, Utkal University, is conferring honorary DLitt on me, making it my 50th honorary doctorate, the highest for any Indian,” he said, dedicating the award to his mother.
Birla Global University and Berhampur University both recently conferred honorary doctorates on Dr. Samanta.
