544 SC and ST students receive TSF fellowship in Odisha

At the Tata Steel Foundation’s (TSF) Udaan 2024 program here on Friday, up to 544 deserving students from economically disadvantaged SC and ST families received Jyoti fellowships worth Rs 49.41 lakh. Manikant Naik, the managing director of the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone, congratulated the students and urged them to work hard and achieve success for their family and country. He declared, “Tata Steel is dedicated to fostering the inclusive growth of the area and will keep offering opportunities for the community.”

Approximately 300 women from self-help groups (SHGs) and teenage girls from outlying villages participated in TSF’s flagship program Disha on the same day, which focused on enterprise development, women’s rights, leadership development, and gender mainstreaming. Sanghamitra Dalei, the mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), exhorted the attendees to be aware of their rights and take use of the government programs.

Udaan 2024 was officially launched by Brigadier Inderjit Singh Panjrath, the commandant of the Army Air Defence College in Gopalpur. In attendance was Manikant Naik, the managing director of the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone.
