The third phase of the vaccination is set to begin in the country on May 1. However, due to the lack of vaccines, vaccinations in Odisha for people between the ages of 18 to 44 do not start in May. The state government has ordered the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech for the vaccine. Meanwhile, 1.5 million doses of Covaxin arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Covaxin is available for vaccinations between the ages of 18 and 44 years. Despite the shutdown, some people will be vaccinated at the trial base from tomorrow. As of Monday, vaccination will only take place in Bhubaneswar Municipalitiy Corporation area.

There are about 1.83 crore people between the ages of 18 and 44 in the state. Everyone will be vaccinated for free. But from May 1, the third phase of vaccination will not be possible. The state government has ordered two companies for vaccines. Odisha has asked Bharat Biotech for 5M and Serum institute for Rs 40 lakh doses in May. Pradeepta Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary Department of Health, has ordered 60 lakh doses of vaccines in the next month.
