The outbreak of the second wave has been steadily declining, vaccination campaigns in the country have slowed. Allegations of vaccinations continue between the Center and the states. Even states have issued global tenders for vaccines. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has written to all the Chief Ministers for vaccinations. The Chief Minister has called on the Chief Ministers of all the states to come together and not fight in this situation for the sake of the vaccine, seeking the consent of all.
“Vaccines are the only way to protect people now,” he said in a letter. No state can survive without vaccination on a wartime basis. Some states have called for tenders for the vaccine after the Center enacted legislation to address the shortage of vaccines. But the states have not had much success. Vaccine companies want clearance from the central government. They do not want to negotiate directly with the state government. In this case, the only alternative is to let centre distribute the vaccine.
The law allows the state to vaccinate everyone. In a letter to the Center, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said other states should take the lead. Let there be consensus in this regard, let people get vaccinated. We must all be ready before the third wave arrives. This is probably the biggest challenge since the freedom struggle.
Notably, it was decided to hold a global tender to meet the demand for corona vaccines in the state. The state government has set up two committees. It has a technical committee and another management committee. The technical committee has a total of 10 members, while the management committee has 9 members. It has been decided that the state pharmaceutical corporation will buy the corona vaccine under the e-Global tender policy.
