60% Villages In Odisha Yet To Get Piped Water Supply

Odisha has over 60% of its villages without a piped water supply. This information was provided by Pradip Amat, the minister responsible for panchayati raj and drinking water, in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday in response to a written inquiry from Narasingha Mishra, the congressman from Balangir.

According to Amat, out of the State’s 47,274 communities, 19,131 villages have access to piped drinking water, and projects are under progress in another 28,143 villages to do the same.

According to the Minister, the following district-by-district list shows how many communities had access to piped water as of September 9 this year:
