84 km of Khurda Road-Balangir railway line to be completed this year: ECoR

In the current fiscal year, East Coast Railway (ECoR) hopes to finish 84 km of the Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project. 142.5 km of the 301-km rail line project have already been finished, including 36.6 km from Balangir to Khambeswarpali and 105.8 km from Khurda Road to Dasapalla.

The 84-km line, which runs from Khambeswarapali to Purunakatak, is currently being built. The continuing Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project’s Purunapani-Sonepur railway segment was recently inspected by ECoR general manager Manoj Sharma, who also conducted an inventory of different active projects.

A significant railway bridge that was being built on the Tel River, a tributary of the Mahanadi River, had its quality of construction and materials inspected by Sharma. It is difficult to build on the river since the Mahanadi’s backwater frequently enters Tel against the flow of the river’s natural water. The Khurda Road-Balangir rail line is a project with a high priority for the general population that is always under review by top authorities. The initiative would strengthen sociocultural ties between western and coastal Odisha while boosting the local economy.Senior authorities including Sambalpur DRM Vineet Singh, ECoR Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) P Sreenivas, and others were present during the inspection.
