The state-of-the-art Integrated Consumer Goods Manufacturing and Logistics (ICML) Facility in Khordha, Odisha, was opened by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today. Suresh Kumar Routray, MLA Jatni, Jyotirindra Nath Mitra, MLA Khordha, and Sanjeev Puri, CMD ITC, among others, were present for the ceremony. The Chief Minister complimented ITC Chairman Sanjeev Puri on the occasion and asked him to increase ITC’s presence in the State. Naveen reaffirmed the government of Odisha’s commitment to creating that state the nation’s future industrial hub.
The Industrial Policy Resolution 2022, recently released by the government, aims to make Odisha a modern and advanced industrial state by providing investors with exceptional opportunities for sustainable business growth and by promoting the people’s overall socioeconomic development. The IPR 2022 lists the food processing industry as one of its key sectors, and this facility by ITC, one of the nation’s well-known conglomerates, is an important turning point for this industry in Odisha.
This 35-acre plant is Odisha’s first integrated facility for manufacturing and logistics of consumer goods. Seven manufacturing lines, including those for Yippee! Noodles, Sunfeast Biscuits, Bingo! Chips, and other world-class food brands produced by ITC, can be accommodated in the facility thanks to careful planning. The forward-thinking device is run by sophisticated hardware with built-in data analytics and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. At the production level, the Khordha plant will employ more than 55% women.
Through a number of co-manufacturing facilities for its FMCG items, the corporation will also keep promoting local entrepreneurship. By offering world-class investment facilitation to investors across sectors, the establishment of this integrated facility by ITC with the government’s active assistance strengthens the commitment of the Government of Odisha to encouraging industrial growth and generating job opportunities.
