The newly established Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), which includes the Laikera and Kirimira blocks of the Jharsuguda district, has today received approval from the Odisha government for nine more positions. The Laikera and Kirimira blocks’ villages will all fall under the control of this ITDA.
These new positions have received the endorsement of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that this will hasten tribal welfare and development in these two regions. One project administrator, one special officer, one assistant executive engineer, one assistant engineer, one accountant, one head clerk, one junior stenographer, one senior clerk, and one junior clerk were among the new positions that the Chief Minister authorized.
Laikera and Kirimira blocks are home to mostly Gond, Bhuyan, and Kissan tribes, but they are also home to Mundas, Kolha, Oraon, Sabara, Kharia, and Sara tribes. Tribes make up 51.78% of the population of Laikera, compared to 18.46% in Kirmera.
