Centre Approves Capital Investment Of Rs 4,528 Crore For Odisha

In the fiscal year 2023-24, the Central government has approved capital investment plans of Rs 56,415 crore for 16 states, including Odisha.

The ideas were accepted under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24 initiative, according to a notice from the Finance Ministry on Monday.

The Ministry has sanctioned Rs 4,528 crore for Odisha under the program to fund projects in various areas including as health, education, irrigation, water supply, power, roads, bridges, and railways.

The fund is also intended to cover the state’s portion of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

It should be mentioned that the plan was created by the Centre in the Union Budget 2023-24 to encourage capital investment by states considering high capital expenditure in projects. Under the plan, states receive special assistance in the shape of a 50-year interest-free loan of up to Rs 1.3 lakh crore throughout the fiscal year.
