Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) on Monday for the next of kin of each dead in the bus tragedy in Digapahandi, Ganjam district, Odisha. The Prime Minister also stated that each injured sufferer will receive Rs 50,000.
“I am deeply saddened by the fatal bus accident in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Condolences to the family of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Rs 50,000 will be provided to the injured,” he tweeted.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh to each deceased victim’s next of kin, as well as free medical care for injured victims.
At least 12 people from a wedding party were murdered and numerous others were injured when a private bus and an OSRTC bus crashed head-on at Digapahandi on the Berhampur-Taptapani route in Ganjam district in the early hours of Monday.
