Bhubaneswar ‘6th hottest place in Asia’ as heat wave sweeps Odisha

On Friday, April 5, 2024, Bhubaneswar ranked sixth in terms of temperature in Asia, according to Umashankar Das, a scientist at IMD Brameswar. On April 5, 2024, Das posted a list of the ten hottest spots in Asia on his X account. Bhubaneswar ranked sixth on the list with a maximum temperature of 43.5°C. At 45.7° C on Friday, Chauk in Myanmar was the hottest spot on the continent.

Up to four locations from Myanmar made the top 5, and Nandyal, India, was the fourth-hottest spot today at 43.7° C. According to the IMD’s day-end data, Bhubaneswar registered a temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius today. The temperature in Odisha’s capital city had already reached 43.3°C by 2:30 PM. A yellow warning for a heat wave is in effect for 14 districts in Odisha for the next 24 hours, according to the IMD.

Later in the day, the Khordha district administration revised the school and Anganwadi timings. As per the directive of the Khordha Collector, classess will be held from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
