In the midst of the hot and muggy weather that was prevalent, Bhubaneswar’s temperature reached 37.4°C around 11.30 am on Sunday. According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Chandali came a close second at 37°C, followed by Jharsuguda (36.6°C), Balasore (35.8°C), Rourkela (35.4°C), Paradip (35.1°C), Keonjhar (34.6°C), Sambalpur (34.6°C), Gopalpur (34.4°C), Hirakud (34.3°C), and Puri (34.3°C).
In Bhubaneswar, daytime temperatures are predicted to reach 40°C. The weather service issued a heatwave warning for a few isolated areas of the state from April 15–18 and predicted hot and muggy weather for one or two locations in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jatasinghpur, Kendrapada, and Nayagarh on April 14. During the following four to five days, it is also anticipated that many locations will see a modest increase in daytime temperatures of 4-6°C.

Heatwave: Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, and Koraput.
While temperatures in Titlagarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda can reach 43°C, by April 18 the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack might register 42°C.
