Police in Odisha’s Jajpur district claimed that a bus headed for Kolkata fell from a bridge on Monday night, killing five people, including a woman, and injuring numerous more. The forty-passenger bus was traveling from Puri to Kolkata when it was involved in a collision on the Barabati bridge on National Highway-16 at approximately nine o’clock at night.
In addition to a group of medical professionals and other district administration representatives, Jajpur’s superintendent of police is on the scene overseeing the rescue efforts. In addition to extending his sincere condolences to the families of the deceased, the Chief Minister has declared that the surviving relatives of the deceased will receive an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh apiece.
In addition, the Chief Minister has asked the district administration to arrange for the injured people to receive appropriate care and has expressed her wish for a quick recovery for them.
