Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha and the leader of the Biju Janta Dal (BJD), has submitted his nomination papers for the Hinjili Assembly seat, where voting is scheduled for May 20. Since 2000, the Chief Minister has been elected to the Hinjili Assembly five times. Naveen offered prayers at the Tara Tarini Temple in the Ganjam district prior to submitting his nominations.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by 5T Chairman VK Pandian, BJD candidate Bhrigu Baxipatra for the Berhampur Lok Sabha, and Odisha Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha when he filed his nomination papers today at the Chhatrapur Sub-Collector’s office.
On May 1, the Chief Minister is expected to speak at open rallies in Digapahandi, Chhatrapur, Kabisuryanagar, and Khallikote. On May 3, he is also expected to travel to Bhanjnagar, Polsara, Sankhemundi, and Sorda, where he will take part in an election rally. The Chief Minister wished Pranab Prakash Das, the BJD contender for the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, all the best of luck in this election in a video that he posted hours before filing the nomination. Today, Das also submitted his candidacy to run in the Sambalpur seat.
