Nine meteorological stations recorded temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius today, indicating that the State is still experiencing extreme heatwave conditions. With a season-high temperature of 47 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest location in the State. A frying cauldron was also flipped at 46.5, 46.3, and 46.2 degrees Celsius in Titilagarh, Bargarh, and Sambalpur, respectively.
Sonepur (45.6), Malkangiri (45.6), Bhawanipatna (45.5), Bolangir (45.3), and Hirakud (45.2) are the other towns where the temperature exceeded 45 degrees C. Additionally, at Rourkela, Nuapada, Boudh, Sundergarh, Phulbani, Angul, Talcher, Keonjhar, Paralakhemundi, and Rayagada, the highest daytime temperature reached 40 degrees C or higher.
Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, twin cities, had temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius, at 36 and 37.1 degrees, respectively.
