The Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, has been appointed to the GST Council’s reformed ministerial panel. Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo has been nominated by Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to join this council, which currently consists of finance ministers from other states.
The convenor of this council is Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Other members of the council include the Finance Ministers of Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Assam, Payyavula Keshav, and Tamil Nadu, as well as the Finance Ministers of Haryana, OP Choudhary, and Atishi Marlena.
The panel’s main objectives will be to find and fix technological issues with the GST system, analyze data to boost revenue, and create a cordial working relationship between the federal and state governments. Additionally, it will offer deadlines for the successful execution of several GST system modifications. Notably, the first ministerial panel was reconstituted this month after being formed during the 45th GST Council meeting in Lucknow in September 2021.
